CLIENT NEEDThe initial focus of the Traveler Information Center is to provide destination information for San Jose and modal information for the Santa Clara County region. The Department of Transportation has included key stakeholders located in the greater Santa Clara County area and invited them to assist in identifying the core destinations. The Department has been working with internal Departments who manage publicly owned destinations and a variety of transportation providers for transportation options. The Departmentís inclusive philosophy is to ensure the content at the Traveler Information Center is current, accurate, and continuously maintained so users are provided correct information.
SOLUTIONstaff is developing a system where users of the Traveler Information Center can search for and find transportation options and search for events in San Jose. The functional objective is to provide its users with a personalized itinerary where individuals can plan their trip by defining the mode(s) of transportation and destination they are going to. The trip planning process and output is through a GIS map-based interface.
